This video is a demonstration of my photography and videography. The photos are from a dress rehearsal and the video from the last night performance.

The Rosy Thompson Academy of Dance took their Summer Show to the Greenwood Theatre in London in June 2024. This is a short promo I made whilst rehearsals were underway. I was mainly there to plan lighting for the theatre performance!

Blue Water Shopping Centre Summer 2023 Workshops Promotion. I was booked for photography and video so took along an extra photographer to help! The brief was for a 15 second edit including titles, which was harder than it might seem owing to so many super shots of people taking part. It was nice to have a 2nd shooter with me as we had to obtain permissions from all those appearing in shot. This is a slightly longer version I made, part of the process in getting it down to 15 seconds!

This is a performance filmed on stage with no audience. This allowed for multiple takes for different angles and framing, stitched together into a full length edit. Here is a highlight selection.

Recording a Show

A holiday is no excuse to leave your day job at home. This is clearly a holiday video shot ad hoc on a super camera, which is a work in progress in terms of lugging it around and having the right stuff with you in a small set-up.

Ask a client to prepare a script in advance, it will save you hours in filming and especially editing.

I have avoided hand-held video shooting until recently, preferring tripods and gimbals. However, having built a rig with a top handle, the hand-held set up is quick to manage and means you don't miss shots.

Rock hopping with Mummy and Aunty. Being on holiday is a good opportunity to play with your camera set up. Still trying to master the hand-held system and have added a mini tripod, which is useful when placing the camera in the water!

I used a circular polariser and a one eighth mist filter. All the gear is just about dry and the sand should fall out in due course …

Bampton Classical Opera are an internationally recognised and award winning opera company. Their first performance of the season is outside - I filmed the dress rehearsal incase the performances were rained off - the backup inside venue was unavailable due to Covid restrictions!

CYCLEmeTOTS are a national franchise running activities for balance bikes through to pedal bikes. This is a promotional video I shot for them.

Restrictions on audience numbers have meant the recording of the event is the only way the performance is seen. This performance was also live-streamed.
